Louisiana has had a tough couple of months, and this might just be the worst disaster to hit us since Hurricane Katrina.
Families from southeastern Louisiana are reeling as 40,000 homes were affected by the historic flooding that began over the weekend. Many of these homes were outside of predicted flooding zones, and therefore had no flood insurance coverage.
President Obama declared a state of emergency in Louisiana this past Sunday. Some officials say that as much as eighty percent of the Baton Rouge area residences may be damaged from the flooding.

An excellent and comprehensive list of how to help can be found here. (side note: nicely done, nola.com. This is something that the big-hitter news outlets couldn’t put together, and you did an amazing job. Bravo.)

We hope that everyone is safe and we send out our best to all the people of Louisiana, our home state that we love very, very much.
