Early this morning a multiple car accident with injuries was reported at around 7 AM in the Belle Chasse tunnel on the Westbank in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, closing the southbound tunnel going deeper into Plaquemines Parish.
WDSU and The Advocate both report that the multiple-car pileup has resulted in injuries, but neither news channel has confirmed how many were injured, or even how many cars were involved, stating that it was unclear, but there were definitely several cars in the crash.
Both news channels have confirmed that the southbound tunnel has been reopened at the time of this post.
